The Election Results are reshaping the political landscape! I voted mainly republican, with a few democrat votes towards people who had done a fantastic job and deserved to be re-elected. I awoke Wednesday morning to find that the Democrats now have control of the House, for the first time in 12 years and my thought is: Good! Let the Democrats be the majority and the Republicans be the minority party, it is what the Republicans deserve after their poor showing over the past years.<br /><br /> In GA news, Sonny Perdue was re-elected!! And Georgians successfully voted for a constitutional amendment limiting eminent domain! Kudos! Also, I found out that seven states had a constitutional amendment on their ballot for allowing gay marriage and all seven states voted nay!<br /><br /> The Democrats have two years to either shine or screw up. Already they are outlining their agenda of issues they want pass through before 2008, and the Republicans are gearing up to fight them.<br /><br /> Two of the issues coming up in the Senate are raising the minimum wage and stem cell research. I like the idea of raising the minimum wage, but am against stem cell research. Will these reach the Senate floor and pass into law? We will have to wait and see.<br /><br /> Letting the Democrats have control will hopefully unite the Republican Party so they will cease being so disorganized, fragmented, and unproductive. The Republicans have had both the House and the Senate and sadly haven't accomplished that much. Maybe they will do better as the minority, the underdog. Now we’ll see if the parties can come together and play it right.
